Waterford's WLR FM win big at IMRO Radio Awards

Congratulations are in order for Waterford's WLR FM, who won big at the IMRO Radio Awards 2024.
The station was crowned Ireland's IMRO Local Station of the Year for 2024.
The ceremony was held on Friday evening, October 4, in Kilkenny to celebrate the best in Irish radio.
CEO of WLR Michael Byrne said after the win: "This is an incredible honour."
“It reflects the passion and dedication of our entire team who work tirelessly to provide Waterford listeners with top-tier content every single day.
"We’re deeply grateful to the IMRO judges for this recognition, and, of course, to our listeners and commercial partners, who are at the heart of everything we do.”
Special recognition was given to several programmes on WLR, including Jordan Norris, who picked up the Bronze for his 'Men's Health Matters' programme.
Upon winning the award, he said: "To receive this recognition from IMRO is an incredible honour, and it only strengthens my commitment to helping break down stigmas and promote better health outcomes for men across Waterford and beyond."
Aoibhin Fallon’s ‘Waterford In Action’ series was awarded the Gold in the inaugural Sustainability category. She said: "The series has been a passion project, highlighting local efforts to make a difference."
