A woman from County Waterford has won a prestigious national award.
Dungarvan Transport Ltd’s Sarah Lonergan was crowned ‘Woman in Transport 2026’ at the Fleet Transport Awards.
The award is presented to outstanding women in the transport field - typically a male-dominated industry.
“I’m honoured to have won the ‘Women in Transport’ award. It’s not the norm yet for women to be involved in transport, but it’s changing,” she said.
She joined Dungarvan Transport Ltd as a Junior Planner in 2020. She now works as a Transport Manager.
“I would encourage any woman to try [Transport]; every day is different and there is an abundance of learning opportunities,” she said.
“I’ve found people to be so supportive and helpful in this industry," she added. "I'm especially thankful to company owner Tomás Horgan for all of his encouragement.”
She follows in the footsteps of her mother, Lynda, who was a previous winner of the ‘Women in Transport’ award.
