Waterford woman sent forward for trial on deception charge

A 47-YEAR-OLD woman was sent forward to the June 18 sitting of Portlaoise Circuit Criminal Court on three counts of deception, when she came before last week’s sitting of the local district court.
Catherine O’Brien, 28 An Ghrianan, Ballinroad, Dungarvan, Co Waterford was charged with three counts of deception at Bank of Ireland, Lyster Square, Portlaoise on September 21, October 25 and October 26, 2018 involving three sums of cash amounting to €100,000.
Garda Lisa Murray served the defendant with a book of evidence.
Sending Ms O’Brien forward to the circuit court, Judge Andrew Cody issued her with a warning that she must notify gardaí in writing within 14 days if she wished to rely on an alibi in her defence.
