Waterford village described as ‘practically pristine’ in Tidy Towns report

The winners of this year’s Tidy Towns awards have been announced, with Waterford once again impressing adjudicators.
Stradbally took have a gold medal and also came out as First in County.
This is Stradbally’s third year in a row winning at county level and their fifth gold medal in a row.
In Stradbally’s adjudication report this year, the streetscape was described as ‘absolutely charming.'
The report adds: ‘The sundial seating area was also eye catching and functional, and the memorial bench for the late Fr. Jerry Condon who passed away is a lovely tribute to him, and a way to keep him in the heart of the village forever.'
Stradbally’s landscaping was described as ‘most attractive and immaculately kept’ and in terms of tidiness and litter control, the village was deemed ‘practically pristine’.
The village was also commended for its sustainability work.
The adjudicator said: “It was an absolute pleasure to visit Stradbally, a really charming village with a lovely view or vista no matter where you look. It is clear that there is a huge amount of work and pride that is being done to ensure that not only you maintain this, but you are constantly looking to improve, and we wish you the best of luck with all your endeavours.”
“Stradbally continues to be a shining example of what can be achieved through community cooperation and pride of place.”
Also in Waterford this year, Lismore won County Second and brought home a gold medal.
County Third went to Ardmore, who brought home a silver medal. Ballymacarbry also won silver. Dungarvan won gold, whilst Tramore won bronze.
Dunhill won the Endeavor Award, for the biggest improvement since last year across the county.
