Waterford’s National Day of Commemoration ceremony will take place on Sunday 13 July 2025 at 11:00am at the John Condon Memorial, Cathedral Square.

The National Day of Commemoration marks all Irish men and women who died in past wars or on service with the United Nations. That includes those who served in World War I and II, the War of Independence, the Civil War, and more recent UN peacekeeping missions.

The Waterford event includes a multi-faith service, the raising of the national flag, military honours, and wreath-laying by members of the Defence Forces, veterans’ organisations, elected representatives, and community groups.

The ceremony takes place at the John Condon Memorial, which commemorates Private John Condon and thousands of others from Waterford who lost their lives in conflict.

All are welcome to attend.
