Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) will open its pop-up Craft Market as part of the Made Local initiative, with Waterford talent, Muireann Ryan showcasing her work.

The market runs from Friday, August 9 to Sunday, August 11, in Medieval Mile Museum, Kilkenny, from 10am to 6pm.

Muireann, a contemporary jewellery maker, specializing in hand made Titanium, Silver and Pearl jewellery, will be representing the Waterford company, Mara Designs, taking inspiration from the sea.

Visitors to the Kilkenny Arts Festival are encouraged to immerse themselves in the craft and design market in the picturesque grounds of the museum and enjoy the work of an array of makers presenting a wonderful range of pieces. This unique market offers the opportunity to discover and purchase original, high-quality Irish-made products, showcasing Irish makers' exceptional creativity and skill, at price points to suit everyone.

Commenting on the launch of the Made Local Craft Market, Suzy O’Keefe, Head of Digital & Communications said: "We are delighted to present our first standalone Made Local Craft market at the Kilkenny Arts Festival and as part of August Craft Month.

"This three-day event offers an incredible opportunity to meet the talented makers and purchase Irish handmade crafts. This initiative reinforces our dedication to supporting and promoting Irish craft and design.” The market will display a number of talented Made Local craftspeople from various disciplines including woodwork, jewellery, and skincare providing an exceptional experience for those seeking high-quality handmade products."

"This intimate setting also allows visitors to engage directly with the designers and makers, gaining insights into the creative process and inspiration behind each piece," she added.

The market is made possible through the support of Kilkenny Civic Trust; Kilkenny Local Enterprise Office (LEO), and Kilkenny County Council.
