Gardaí have confirmed that a man (20s) was arrested in connection with the incident and has since appeared before Waterford District Court

The proprietors of a Waterford restaurant have thanked a member of the public who contacted them to let them know about a break-in.

In a post on social media, Espresso on Parnell Street said that their restaurant was unfortunately broken into last Thursday night.

“It’s never a nice thing to experience as a family business, but we want to extend a massive thank you to the fantastic member of the public who spotted the break-in and rang us immediately.

“Thanks to their quick thinking, we alerted the Gardaí straight away. The attending Gardaí were incredible. They arrived within minutes and apprehended the individual after.

“We are truly grateful for the support of both our community and local Gardaí.

“We are open as normal today as life must go on!," wrote the proprietors.

Gardaí confirmed that a male in his 20s was arrested in connection with the incident and has since appeared before Waterford District Court. 

they attended the scene of a burglary at a business in Waterford City shortly after 11:30 pm on Thursday.
