Waterford man accused of murder refuses custody move to Midlands prison

The man charged with the murder of Gillian Curran has said he refuses to be moved to Midlands prison.
Marcus O’Neill (34), of 15 O’Brien Street, Waterford City, appeared by video link before Judge Kevin Staunton at Waterford District Court.
Sergeant Michael Hickey told the court that DPP instructions were not yet available, but he expected to be able to serve the Book of Evidence on May 27.
He made an application for the matter to be put back until then.
Acting for the defendant, solicitor Ken Cunningham said his client had been in custody since January.
The High Court has refused bail in the matter.
Mr O’Neill addressed the court, saying he refused to be moved to Midlands prison.
Judge Staunton told the defendant that prison arrangements were not a matter for the court.
Mr O'Neill was further remanded in custody, with the judge putting the matter back to May 27.
