On Thursday, July 22, the very talented singer-songwriter, Emma Langford, performed on stage with the beautiful acoustics of the church, building the atmosphere to her unique sound along with her guitar.
Other performers announced at the launch for the festival include Hot House Flowers, Andy Irvine, the Bluebells and the Dublin City Ramblers, to name a few.
Marking the launch of the event, Waterford's own homegrown talent, Chef Keith Boyle told the crowd: "It's a great honour to be asked to come back this year to be the festival ambassador.
"When I got a phone call from Mark, I thought it was lovely because Carmel and I are from Waterford and we met in Waterford. We had our kids here, we grew up here, and I suppose most importantly, we opened our first business here," Keith continued.
"We opened our first restaurant many moons ago, The Exchange in Ballybricken. We've had a rollercoaster of a career since so it's fantastic to be coming back and to be able to showcase where we have grown in our food style and service and to be able to host and finish the show with the gala dinner in the beautiful surroundings of City Hall," added Keith, while giving his thanks to all the Waterford suppliers involved in the festival.
Festival co-director, and proud Tramore local, Mark Dunne, highlighted how the festival has grown into one of the primary events in the Waterford event calendar, with it being made inclusive for all to attend.
"We've all watched the development of the city over the last couple of years and I'm sure we can all agree we've had our problems here, but one thing I've always had pride in my city for is if there's anything to be done in Waterford, we do it ourselves," said Mr Dunne, adding that the hashtag associated with this year's festival is #EnjoyWaterford.
Harvest Festival events take place from September 6 to 8.
