Waterford duo raise funds for MS through 100km challenge

Chris Conroy took on the challenge with Ann Van Hemelendonck to raise money for MS
Two Waterford residents, Chris Conroy of Tramore Nursing Home and Ann Van Hemelendonck, a resident there, took on the a 100km challenge in May to raise funds for MS research and support.
Chris participated in the May 50k event, doubling the distance to 100km to raise awareness and funds for those living with multiple sclerosis in Ireland.
Ann, a long-time MS sufferer, could only walk 20metres at the start of April, however, through daily effort and determination, she brought that distance up to 100metres.
Chris praised Ann’s strength, calling her “very determined and motivated,” and he also said he was inspired by her resilience.
Together they've raised over €1,586 so far and surpassed their initial goal target of €1,000.
MS affects over 9,000 people in Ireland, with no known cure. Most of those affected are female and 10 new diagnoses are made weekly, with many of those involving people in the prime of life.
To support Chris and Ann's efforts donations can be made at www.themay50k.ie/fundraisers/chrisconroy.
The money raised will go to MS Ireland and the MS International Federation for vital research and support services.
