Fianna Fáil councillor John O’Leary has asked for the Comeragh district’s planned council meeting on March 18 to be rescheduled in light of St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
“I certainly would like to celebrate the 17th of March,” said Cllr O’Leary, who also serves as the Cathaoirleach of the district.
“I’m not sure if it would actually be safe for me to drive to Dungarvan (where the meeting is planned to be held) on the 18th of March.”
Cllr O’Leary asked if it was possible for members of the Council’s executive board to change their schedules for an alternative date.
The Comeragh district’s councillors meet once a month at the Dungarvan Civic Offices. They also attend the Council’s monthly plenary meetings, comprised of Waterford’s three electoral areas.
Lisa Grant of Waterford City and County Council said that any rescheduled date would have to be as close to the original plan of March 18.
March 19 was floated as a possible option, but no concrete date was put in place.
