Waterford City and County Council has updated an interactive map to search for closest AED (Automated External Defibrillator) to people's location across the county.

The GIS (Geographical Information Systems) map contains the Eircode locations of the 71 AEDs across Waterford City, Dungarvan, Tramore and Cheekpoint.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "An AED is a user-friendly, life-saving device that can be the difference between life and death in a cardiac emergency. The AED location list is an invaluable resource for the public to familiarise themselves with the locations of AEDs that could potentially save a life."

In the event of an emergency the public should dial 999 or 112.
