Waterford City and County Council has issued a warning asking the public not to start fires in wild spaces.
In a post on social media, the council asked the public to refrain from burning vegetation, report fires immediately and obey fire safety rules.
"With dry weather continuing, Waterford City & County Council urges everyone to avoid lighting fires, campfires or BBQs in forests, dunes, uplands or meadows.
"Dry vegetation can ignite and spread quickly, putting homes, wildlife and people at risk.
"Enjoy the good weather – but help protect our wild spaces this weekend," said the council.
