Waterford Chamber and Waterford City and County Council have launched a new initiative aiming to provide support to businesses impacted by the Tycor Business Centre fire.
The SOLVE (Supporting Our Locally Vulnerable Employers) initiative aims to ensure all contributions to affected businesses are managed in a coordinated manner, and will inform how funds are distributed.
“This process will inform how supports and funds are distributed in a targeted and meaningful way,” said a spokesperson for the Chamber.
“Since the incident, the response from the business community and beyond, has been extraordinary, with offers of support and assistance coming from all quarters,” said Waterford Council Chief Executive Seán McKeown.
“The establishment of SOLVE will help ensure effective and expedient distribution of that support, in order to help these businesses get back on their feet.”
CEO of Waterford Chamber Gerard Hurley said the initiative will help ensure “goodwill is channelled effectively to support those most impacted during this difficult time.”
Businesses wishing to contribute to the fund are asked to contact Gerald Hurley on 086 2528093.
The initiative comes as Waterford Council and Government departments begin to collaborate on providing long-term support packages for impacted businesses.
Following a meeting with Minister for Enterprise Peter Burke on Tuesday, May 12, business owners were asked to complete a survey to gauge their requirements in the wake of the fire.
