WATCH: Waterford woman representing Italy in Kitesurfing at Paris Olympics

Maggie Pescetto is originally from Waterford but is competing for Italy where she grew up.
One of Italy's participants in the Paris Olympics was born in Waterford, with relatives from the Déise having travelled to the French capital to give her their support.
Maggie Pescetto was born in Waterford but grew up in Italy and she is competing in the kiteboarding discipline which made its Olympic debut this year.
Her parents and Sean Pescetto and Aisling Quelly, whose parents are Eileen Queally and the late Peter Queally, from Kill. Peter passed away last year and was one of Waterford's most successful and respected businessmen. His name was synonymous with Dawn Meats, which he set up with his brother John and a business partner in 1980.

The Queally's success within the world of business was acknowledged at the Waterford Business Awards while the family remains one of the most respected within the community locally.
Maggie has been involved in kitesurfing since she was a teenager and not one to forget her routes she fondly remembers family visits to Waterford in her younger years.
Speaking to WLR radio, her uncle Cathal revealed that Bunmahon was where Maggie learned to swim. He also said Maggie was named after the family's much loved former housekeeper, the late Maggie Power.

The entire area around Kill have been glued to the Olympics to follow the exploits of Maggie who they feel is "one of our own".
