Voter registration day is this month

National Voter Registration Day is on April 30

National Voter Registration Day takes place on Wednesday, April 30, and people are being encouraged to check that they are registered to vote and that their details are up to date. This can be done on the Check the Register website.

The day is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of voter registration and encouraging greater participation in the democratic process.

People who have moved address, changed their name, recently become eligible to vote, or have not voted in some time are especially encouraged to check their details.

Importantly, young people aged 16 and 17 can now pre-register to vote, helping to ensure they are ready to take part once they reach voting age.

Residents are encouraged to take a few minutes to check their registration status and make any necessary updates ahead of future elections and referendums.
