Two Waterford charities have decided to organise a memorial concert in the city to honour the memory of one of the city and county's foremost community volunteers.

The Waterford and South Kilkenny Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland and the Waterford Viking Branch of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, launched details recently of the Carmel Nairn Memorial Concert, which will celebrating the life of a woman who gave more than 30 years to both organisations before her death in February 2024.

The official launch of the event took place in Waterford's City Hall and Waterford News & Star photographer was in attendance to capture a brief video clip of the event which can be viewed below.

The concert will take place on Saturday, May 16, in Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford.
