Victim named following fatal Waterford road collision
The late Eamonn 'Ned' Murphy.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a fatal collision on the R448 at Sallypark, Waterford city, on Sunday, November 23.
The male pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene has been named as Eamonn 'Ned' Murphy. Mr. Murphy was in his 40s and from Ballynooney, Mullinavat, in Co. Kilkenny.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene after a car struck Mr. Murphy at around 2:10am. A post-mortem examination was subsequently due to take place.
His requiem mass will take place on Wednesday, November 26, at St. Beacon's Church, Mullinavat.
The car driver, a man in his 20s, was uninjured.
The road from Rice Bridge to the Newrath Road roundabout was reopened after initial closure.
Those who were travelling on the R448 between 1:30am and 2:15am have been asked to come forward with dashcam footage and contact Waterford Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line, or any Garda Station.
