Two members of county Waterford fire service honoured at awards night

Two members of Tallow Fire Service were honoured at the Long Service Awards.
Station Officer Martin Sheehan was recognised for 29 years of service, while Firefighter Lar O’Hara was recognised for 25 years of service at the ceremony held at the Tower Hotel last Friday.
They received Certificates of Long Service, presented by the Mayor of Waterford City & County, Seamus Ryan, in recognition of their dedication and commitment to protecting their communities.
West Waterford councillor Donnchadh Mulcahy paid tribute to both men.
“Serving 29 and 25 years in the fire service is a remarkable achievement and a real testament to the dedication both Martin and Lar have shown to their communities over many years.
“As someone who serves in the retained fire service myself, I know the level of commitment involved. Firefighters are always ready to answer the call at any hour of the day or night and often put themselves in challenging situations to protect others.
“Tallow Fire Service and the wider community are very proud of Martin and Lar. Their years of service and commitment to helping others are something that deserves to be recognised and celebrated,” said Cllr Mulcahy.
Tallow Fire and Rescue Service posted on social media that the recognition was well deserved.
“Serving their community for 29 and 25 years is a remarkable achievement. Everyone in Tallow Fire Service is proud to serve alongside Martin and Lar, and we thank them both for their years of dedication and service to the community,” wrote the fire service.
