Two drivers "blessed" following Waterford crash

A stretch of Waterford's N25 was closed off early this morning due to a two car collision.
The collision happened close to Carroll's Cross, just before 6.30am on Thursday, August 1.
The drivers of both cars were taken to University Hospital Waterford as a precaution with minor injuries, however, with the damage done to both vehicles taken into consideration, a member of An Garda Síochána said they were "blessed" not to have been more seriously injured given the circumstances to which the emergency services arrived to this morning.
Morning commuters were caught up in significant traffic delays as traffic was temporarily diverted through Portlaw.
The road has since been reopened in the last hour with traffic resuming as usual.
The concerns around the N25 have recently been raised at local Council meetings, where at the last plenary meeting Councillor Conor McGuinness told the chamber: "We are being ignored" by the Minister for Transport. The Council had agreed to write again to Minister Eamon Ryan to ask him to address the dangers of Waterford's N25.
