Work is progressing on the Transport Hub of the North Quays project

Work is progressing on the Transport Hub building which forms part of the multi-million euro development works taking place on the North Quays area of Waterford City.

In a report presented to members of Waterford City & County Council at their monthly plenary meeting Chief Executive, Sean McKeown, said works are progressing on the structural steelwork and roof deck.

Works on the internal ticketing areas, offices, conveniences and public concourse at first floor level are in progress.

"Works to the platforms and rail track are continuing and preparation works are ongoing on the new pedestrian access bridge to the west of the Transport Hub," said Mr McKeown in his report.

"Road and access infrastructure is progressing well, the first phase of works along Fountain Street is complete, and traffic management and associated works has now progressed to the southern inbound lane," he added.

In his report Mr McKeown said the next phase, east of Rockshire Road junction, will commence shortly. He also informed the members that works are progressing well on Abbey Road, with traffic now switched onto the road - which has been newly realigned. 

The dedicated school drop off area is in use for Our Lady of Good Council National School and the surrounding entrance walls, gates, landscaping and drainage works are close to completion.
