The state of street lighting in Tramore was raised at the last Metro meeting, a few days before Storm Éowyn.

Councillor Jim Griffin said: "We're not getting the relevant answers from Killaree Lighting, the contractor. Tramore is an absolute disgrace at present."

He continued: "I don't think a quick fix is the answer. We're being told now that it's underground cabling [...] but I don't believe that it is underground and I think that we as a Council need a restock and a one-stop workshop just on street lighting throughout the entire Metropolitan area."

Senior Engineer for Waterford City and County Council Roger Noonan responded: "Councillor Griffin, looking for a workshop, by all means I can take that off to Paul (Johnston) and Barbara (Stosic) and see if they can organise something for that."
