The Village Bar site comes on the market

The Village Bar, Fountain Street, Ferrybank, Waterford.

The Village Bar site is up for sale in Ferrybank. According to the new listing on daft.ie, the development land is on the market for a guide price of €750,000.

Agents O'Shea O'Toole advertised the listing as a "rare chance" to acquire "a shovel-ready site in one of the most strategically significant areas of Waterford City's expansion."

The site comes with planning permission for 19 units.

The report states that the breakdown of the proposed development comprises a three-storey building as follows: four one-bedroom residential units; 12 two-bedroom residential units; two three-bedroom residential units, and one ground floor café / wine bar unit.

The advertisement referenced the North Quays Strategic Development Zone (SZD).

"The North Quays project [now well underway] will deliver a major boost in infrastructure, public realm investment, and population growth in the immediate vicinity, significantly enhancing the long-term value and appeal of this development," it stated.

The listing comes months after An Bord Pleanála upheld a local authority decision to grant permission for the change of use of the public house into apartments.

The Village Bar was the last pub in Ferrybank and locals appealed to An Bord Pleanála over the proposals to demolish the building.

It was formerly known as the Briar Rose pub.

More information on the site can be found on daft.ietarget="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> and on Waterford City and County Council Planning website, planning file ref. 2328.
