Juniors for Juniors have announced the return of the Teddy Bear Hospital for its third year, taking place on Saturday January 24 from 10 am to 3:30 pm.

Following two hugely successful and heartwarming years, this much loved family event is set to welcome even more children and their favourite teddies for a fun, educational and reassuring hospital experience this year.

The Teddy Bear Hospital allows children to bring along their teddy bears or soft toys to be “treated” by a team of friendly volunteers, helping to reduce fear around hospitals and medical environments while promoting understanding in a gentle and playful way.

The event is organised by Juniors for Juniors, who provide support to young patients and their families at University Hospital Waterford.

Janet O’Neill, Co Founder of Juniors for Juniors, said that the upcoming event means the world to young children and their parents.

“It helps them learn about hospitals in a calm and positive way, while also giving families a wonderful day out" she said.

"Seeing the smiles and confidence grow as the children care for their teddies is truly special, and we are so excited to welcome everyone back for our third year.”

Isobel Flynn, Co Founder and Hospital Liaison, added: “The Teddy Bear Hospital is all about turning something that can feel scary into something friendly and familiar. By letting children become the carers for their teddies, they gain a better understanding of what happens in hospital and feel more at ease. It is a beautiful example of how small experiences can make a big difference to young minds.”
