Surgical Hub works contract is 'imminent'

A representative has informed the Waterford News & Star that the HSE is currently in the process of responding to the planning conditions for the Surgical Hub development at Maypark Lane and the award of a works contract is imminent.

Construction works are expected to commence on site this year with a build programme of approximately 21 months.

Waterford City & County Council also announced this week that in order to facilitate the construction of the hub, it is necessary to remove the bring bank currently located at Maypark Lane. The bring bank will be removed from Monday, August 12, 2024.

A site acquisition for the Surgical Hub for University Hospital Waterford was completed in May 2024, with a decision to grant planning permission for the project granted by Waterford City and County Council in April 2024.
