Summer garden party in County Waterford is breezy success

Users and staff from throughout the HSE’s Waterford area mental health residential care services were in Dungarvan recently to attend a summer garden party.
Held in the Seabreeze mental health high support community residence, among over 50 guests present were those from the Grangemore mental health rehabilitation and recovery unit and Árd na nDéise high support hostel in Waterford and other community residences.
Built at a cost of €6.4 million and developed on a stand-alone 1.9 acre site on the Youghal Rd. in Dungarvan, the residence was officially opened last year by Government Chief Whip and Minister for Mental Health, Mary Butler TD.
A spokesperson for the HSE told Waterford News & Star that Seabreeze was nominated in the healthcare projects category of the Irish Building and Design Awards 2025.
The residence is comprised of two blocks, hosting 10 en-suite single bedrooms and two apartments.
An adjoining third block features communal facilities and administrative offices.
Welcoming everyone to the Garden Party, Clinical Nurse Manager 2 at Seabreeze Willie Browne said: “This is another opportunity to highlight this wonderful facility in Dungarvan and to mark the work in care and service delivery of HSE colleagues throughout the city and county.”
“The range of activities we involve ourselves in at Seabreeze, from arts and crafts with the residents to our weekly hosting at the social farming projects, is complemented by this garden party," he added.
Mr Browne also noted that the music and singing for the party was provided by residents themselves.
"This occasion wasn’t just about tea, sandwiches and cake but about bringing people together, furthering connections and celebrating what we do at the likes of Seabreeze," he said.
"WWe pay tribute also to the resilience of patients in our care and reflect on the great support we get from families and the community," he added.
Mr Browne went on to comment: "We are delighted to have Seabreeze as part of our collective efforts in the HSE Dublin and South East, to support recovery, promote wellbeing and to have a safe, comfortable space for everyone we serve.”
