Great George's Street plans

Waterford Council are proposing significant works at former presbytery buildings at 3 and 4 Great George’s Street, Waterford City.

Works include the proposed conversion of the five-storey buildings from residential to office-use.

Changes to the internal layouts will be undertaken to re-instate original room proportions and to improve accessibility.

A new roof-level extension is also proposed, incorporating meeting rooms and an outdoor viewing space.

The demolition of two structures to the rear courtyards is planned.

The building are listed as Protected Structures due to their historical significance, and so proposed plans include conservation remedial works to the fabric in order to retain architectural features of the buildings and the conservatory to the rear.

Existing rear courtyards will be retained and changes to the layout will include the demolition of existing external structures to provide external services and utility spaces.

Access improvements to car parking at the rear of No’s 3 and 4 Great George’s Street are planned, including the removal of 5 parking bays to provide an accessible ramp and new stepped access.

Pedestrian routes will be improved by re-alignment and new hard paved areas, and the development will provide 11 standard parking bays and 1 accessible parking bay.

The project is currently open for public consultations at consult.waterford council.ie
