A Waterford City councillor has welcomed the repair of a railing on the Rice Bridge.

Cllr Eamon Quinlan wrote in a post on social media that the railing was previously struck by a car.

A temporary repair was made by strapping a crowd control barrier to the damaged area.

"As a key entrance to the City, it is important that we put our best foot forward for visitors when it comes to first impressions.

"Also, as a huge part of the history of Waterford, repairing and preserving such important infrastructure is a priority for the Council," said Cllr Quinlan.
