A bake sale held recently in a school in County Waterford was a great success and helped support the school's work in the area of environmental awareness.

The initiative was organised by the Transition Year students and a spokesperson for St Declan's Community College acknowledged the work of Ms Harty and her "amazing team of TY bakers for all their hard work for the Green Schools Christmas fundraiser".

"A huge thank you also to Ms O'Shea's, First Year Green Schools Committee team for their additional baking," said the spokesperson.

Over €300 has raised through the event which will go towards the school's Spring planting and seating projects.

"We are excited to get to work in the New Year," said a spokesperson for the school.
