Sanofi staff have raised €50,000 in support of Waterford-based SOLAS Cancer Support Centre.

Over 50 employees took part in the SOLAS Croke Park Abseil Challenge, a 150 metre decent, with money raised from personal fundraising campaigns and an in-house event.

A spokesperson from Sanofi said the event was driven by the company's CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) team, who continue to lead impactful initiatives within the community.

"The abseil wasn’t just about adrenaline. It was a testament to Sanofi’s deep-rooted culture of volunteering.

"Through the company’s We Volunteer programme, employees are actively encouraged to dedicate time and energy to causes that matter, making a tangible difference both locally and nationally," said the spokesperson.

SOLAS Cancer Support Centre, located on the Williamstown Road, provides free, professional support services in a welcoming and non-clinical environment.

These services include counselling, complementary therapies, group support and workshops, catering not only to patients but also to their families and carers.

"SOLAS holds a particularly special place in the hearts of the Sanofi Waterford team with a longstanding relationship built on shared values, the connection between the Sanofi site and SOLAS has only deepened over the years.

"Many Sanofi employees and their families have personally benefited from the vital support services offered by SOLAS, making the cause deeply personal and the connection even more meaningful.

"Sanofi has championed initiatives like the Cancer at Work programme, which provides education, resources, and support for employees navigating cancer, either personally or through a loved one.

"This year’s abseil wasn’t just about the descent.

"It was about lifting spirits, raising vital funds and reinforcing the unshakeable link between Sanofi and the community it proudly serves.
