Tipperary County Council (lead authority) has successfully sought approval from TII to move from Phase 1 (Concept and Feasibility) to Phase 2 (Route Options Selection) for the proposed Carrick-on-Suir to Kilmeaden Greenway.

It's expected the local authority in conjunction with Waterford City and County Council will now start the procurement of a consultant to take the project through Phase 2, Phase 3 (Design and Environmental Evaluation) and Phase 4 (Statutory Process).

It will likely take around six months at least to procure a consultant and then commence Phase 2 with a public consultation.

A new consultant is required due to the significant changes to requirements since TII took over as the Approving Authority for Greenways.

It is hoped putting a new consultant in place will speed up the following Phases in line with TII and Government transport appraisal and investment requirements.
