Residents in Waterford can request their estate be taken in charge by the council.
That is according to the Director of Services for Planning, Corporate, Culture, HR and IS, Ivan Grimes at the July sitting of Dungarvan-Lismore District Council.
“The request for taking in charge can come from either the developer or 50% of the residents. So we haven’t received a request about those estates from either the developer or the residents, said Mr Grimes.
Mr Grimes was responding to councillor Thomas Phelan who asked about Waters Edge and Waterside estates in Dungarvan.
Cllr Phelan noted that the … report said no request had been made.
He asked if the request needed to be made by the developer or residents.
Mr Grimes confirmed either could make the request and told Cllr Phelan that it is up to elected members to bring that to residents attention.
“I have seen that happen in other parts of the county and it has resulted in estates being taken in charge, including my own I have to say,” said Mr Grimes.
