Waterford City & County Council has announced plans to extend the mechanics' workshop in one of its fire stations in the county.

The works are planned for the fire station in Dungarvan which is located on Shandon Road, Kilrush.

The proposed works will see the workshop extended by 11m squared and a height of 8m.

Plans relating to the work are available to review at the customer care offices in both Dungarvan town and Waterford City. They are also available to view online until August 23.

The local authority said appropriate assessment screening and environmental impact assessment screening have been carried out resulting in no significant environmental impacts being determined.

Members of the public are invited to submit their views on the planned works either by email, to fire@waterfordcouncil.ie or in writing to: 

Director of Services, Housing, Community and Emergency, Waterford City & County Council, No. 35 The Mall, Waterford.

Submissions, which must be marked 'Workshop extension at Dungarvan Fire Station Part 8', must be made by September 6.
