The pedestrian pathway between Estuary Heights and Colligan View in Dungarvan is not permanently closed.

Senior Architect at Waterford City and County Council, Walter Holden, told councillors at the June sitting of the Dungarvan-Lismore District Council that the pathway was only closed while construction was ongoing in the area.

“It will be opened once construction is complete, just to be clear on that, because I know there were a couple of murmurs that it will be fully closed. It will not be fully closed,” said Mr Holden.

Mr Holden was responding to concerns raised by councillors Thomas Phelan and Kate O’Mahoney, who both asked that some access to the two estates be opened.

Cllr Phelan said that in addition to limiting access between estates, residents also had to take a longer route to go into the town for school and work.

Mr Holden said, due to health and safety, they were not in a position to do that.

But he said they would "expedite" the construction in that area.
