Despite the downpour of rain, the Southeast Palestine Solidarity Group held a demonstration across from the Clock Tower last Thursday evening.

Many members of the group travelled all the way from Dungarvan and New Ross to attend the demonstration.

They have protested Israel’s attacks on Gaza every Thursday for two years now.

Communications officer Michelle Byrne said, “It’s hard to keep something like this sustained, yet people have done it.”

The sound of car horns was deafening as commuters expressed their support for the group.

Michelle said, “We have a huge amount of support and solidarity in Waterford.”

Chair of the group, Mary Lyng, said that the group meets every Thursday at 5.30pm and anyone is welcome to join.

She added that they always have spare flags and are delighted by new faces.
