The OPW has approved €90,000 in additional funding for flood mitigation works in Tallow.

Minister for State Kevin Moran announced the funding for the planned works, which include:

  • A study to establish the causes of flooding and to identify potential feasible solutions.
  • A topographical survey
  • An investigation of flooding
  • Preparation of a flood defence options report
  • An AA screening of a preferred scheme

The fund is the result of an approval of Waterford City and County Council’s application for funding under the Office of Public Works’ Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme.

Waterford TD Conor McGuinness raised the issue of flooding on West Street with the Minister for State earlier this year.
