The Gardaí in Waterford said numerous road traffic offences were detected as a result of checkpoints over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
In an online post the gardaí urged people to 'slow down, stay alert, and never, ever drive under the influence'.

Motorists were also advised to always wear their safety belts, avoid distractions and look out for pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users.
"Arrive alive; no journey is worth the risk," noted the gardaí in their post.

They also stated that two major checkpoints took place on Monday, April 6, across County Waterford.
"Two suspected drink drivers and numerous road traffic offences were detected, including no insurance and no driving licence," they said.
