New Waterford City B&Q store set to open its doors this week

B&Q announced last December that it would be taking over three Homebase stores as part of a €3.9 million deal and retaining the staff employed.

B&Q is to open its new Waterford City store this Thursday.

The 30,000sq ft unit in the Ardkeen Retail Park, Farronshoneen, previously housed Homebase.

In a post on social media, B&Q Waterford Unit Manager Gary Roche said that they were pleased to start out supporting a local initiative.

"We are really excited to be able to open the doors to our new store on Thursday, May 29 and welcome our customers in.

"We are pleased to start the new store journey off by supporting the refresh of Grange Cohen service entrance and outdoor spaces, a vital service for the local community," said Mr Roche.

B&Q announced last December that it would be taking over three Homebase stores as part of a €3.9 million deal and retaining the staff employed.

Sixteen Waterford staff transferred from Homebase.

The new Waterford location is the second of the three stores, with the other two stores in Letterkenny and Navan.

The Navan store opened its doors earlier on May 23.

The new Waterford City unit will officially open at 9am on Thursday, May 29.
