The motion proposed that the elected members of the Comeragh District Council request the cost of providing new toilet facilities at Kilmurrin Cove and the Copper Coast be factored into the Council's 2025 budget.

A motion was passed at last week's Comeragh District meeting to ask for funding for beach toilets in Waterford.

The motion introduced by Cllr Declan Clune proposed that the elected members of the Comeragh District Council request the cost of providing new toilet facilities at Kilmurrin Cove and the Copper Coast be factored into the Council's 2025 budget.

"This is something that comes up regularly, particularly during the summer," Cllr Clune said.

"I know all the councillors here would have been contacted; particularly this summer there seems to be a huge deluge of queries and complaints. To a certain extent we’re a victim of our own success because that particular area of the Copper Coast is so popular."

He added, "It's 2025, we have to bite the bullet and get some kind of facility in there."

The motion was carried unanimously.
