Mayor of Waterford pays tribute to 'an absolute gentleman' who passed away at Christmas

Waterford City and County Council stood for a minute of silence for a member of staff who passed away over Christmas.
Late of Powerscourt, Paul Prendergast passed away on December 30, 2024 and a celebration of his life was held on January 5, 2025.
Mayor, Councillor Jason Murphy called for a vote of sympathy for Paul's family at the January sitting of Waterford City and County Council in Dungarvan.
“Paul was an absolute gentleman," said Cllr Murphy.
“A really nice guy, and we were all shocked to hear he had passed over the Christmas,” added Cllr Murphy.
Councillors, officials and the media stood for a minute of silence at the start of the meeting.
