A man appeared in Waterford Courthouse last week, charged with an act of criminal damage.

29-year-old Brandon Power, of Kilcraggen, Mooncoin, Kilkenny, pleaded guilty to ripping a security camera off the home of his neighbour.

At 12:10am on October 21, gardaí received a call to attend the scene.

They found camera equipment and an associated solar panel strewn across the road outside the house.

Gardaí later observed a male walking in the area with dark clothing and wellington's.

A component of the camera was found in his back pocket. Another part of the camera was later found in a nearby field.

Judge Caitriona Murray, presiding over Waterford District Court, has ordered Power to pay full compensation to the victim.

If he does so, the matter will be struck out.
