The defence requested that a probation report be prepared prior to sentencing.

A man has pleaded guilty this week to a charge of assault and a charge of producing an article, namely a knife, during the course of a dispute with a woman.

Luiz Fernando Pereira, of Tobernagat, Scariff, County Clare, committed the offences on May 26, 2024, at Barrack Street in Tallow.

Pereira’s defence counsel outlined to Judge Eugene O’Kelly that the incident was “quite out of character” for the man, and that he suffered from addiction issues at the time.

The defence requested that a probation report be prepared prior to sentencing.

Judge O’Kelly permitted the request.

The man was remanded on continuing bail until April 15.
