Man charged over road accident that claimed the lives of two teens in Waterford

It is expected that the book of evidence in the case will be served on May 6.

A Ferrybank man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death at Waterford District Court in relation to a collision between a bus and e-scooter, in which two teenagers were killed.

Adrian Doyle (42), of 5 Ard Glas, Abbey Road, Ferrybank, came before Judge Kevin Staunton in relation to the incident, which happened on the Cork Road on June 27, 2024.

The defendant is understood to have been driving the bus. 

The court was told that the DPP had instructed trial on indictment.

Judge Kevin Staunton noted the DPP instructions and remanded the defendant on continuing bail until May 6.

It is expected the book of evidence will be served on that day.

INCIDENT 

The incident in question happened shortly before 2:10am on Thursday, June 27, on the R680 Cork Road in Waterford City.

One of the youths was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other passed away a short time later.
