Man accused of assaulting pensioner who later died appears in court

A man has been further remanded in custody for the charge of assaulting a pensioner who died days later.
David Norris (35), of Assumption Terrace, Rosbercon, New Ross, Co Wexford, was charged in early August with Section 3 assault against the late Pat Fitzgerald.
On Tuesday, August 19, Mr Norris appeared before Judge Miriam Walsh via video link at Waterford District Court.
Solicitor Ken Cunningham informed Judge Walsh that a High Court bail application was "in motion" and its outcome would be known within the "coming days".
Mr Norris was ordered to return to court via video link for further instructions on September 2, 2025.
