There were scenes of great celebration in County Waterford recently when two very popular members of the community celebrated their 90th birthday together.
Pauline Kavanagh and Mary Anne Power, celebrated their 90th birthdays at Tay and Mahon Valley Active Retirement Association's last gathering in the run up to Christmas.
One of those involved with the group commented: "There was nice finger food, memories, stories and some beautiful singing."
Describing it as "a beautiful and enjoyable party", he added: "We will not embarrass anybody by naming them, but we have to thank everybody for the effort put in place to organise this birthday party for two special ladies."

A thought was also given at the event for those members who suffered a bereavement over the course of 2025.
"Our thoughts go out to members who were hospitalised, are undergoing treatment, or are recovering from illness in the past year," said a spokesperson for the group.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with you, if you are caring for a loved one at home or if your loved one needs care away from home," he added.
The organisation is very much community driven and that was a message emphasised by the spokesperson who encouraged people to stay strong: "Difficult decisions, big decisions. Stay strong and be positive, don't struggle alone. Do not hesitate to pick up the phone and call any of our members."
"May 2026 bring good health and happiness to you all," he added.
