Dungarvan was alive with excitement at breakfast time last Friday as over 1,000 people gathered to meet some famous faces and sporting greats in support of the West Waterford Rapid Response Vehicle cause.

Overnight, teams of volunteers worked to transform the square into a stunning culinary experience to cater for the "Breakfast with the Stars", which took place from 7am.

A roar of applause filled the air as sporting legends Ronan O'Gara and Ian Rush took to the stage, introduced by MC Marty Morrissey. The stars shared their life experiences, stories and thoughts on the nature of various sporting aspects with the crowd.

Over the last six months the Rapid Response Volunteer team has been working tirelessly to raise sufficient funds to procure a Rapid Response Vehicle for West Waterford.

The Rapid Response emergency vehicle, which will be operated by a volunteer critical emergency doctor, will provide 24-hour coverage to medical emergencies, which will contribute to saving lives in the West Waterford area.

The West Waterford Rapid Response Vehicle cause has received an outpouring of support from all communities and sectors across the county.

Michael Ryan, Chairman of the West Waterford Rapid Response Vehicle cause, said: "On behalf of countless lives, we are most grateful for your support in our fundraising endeavours.

"The West Waterford Rapid Response Volunteer team wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the communities, businesses and indeed individuals who continue to support the cause.

"Together we will make a difference in our communities and save lives."
