Independents align with housing Irish people first

The Irish People Party says free speech is a core principle, where its independent, but affiliated, candidates agree that "talking and thinking should never be a crime".
In the upcoming elections, Waterford will see four new political parties on the ballot sheet, where each party has one candidate running on June 7, except The Irish People, which has three candidates; Michael McCarthy will contest for a seat in the Lismore district; Declan Power in Portlaw-Kilmacthomas and John D. Walsh in Waterford City East, all under The Irish People banner.
While The Irish People presents itself as a political party, it openly states that it "unites independent candidates under a shared banner". It adds, "Our aim is to enhance the electoral chances of individuals who share common principles but wish to maintain their independent voice in politics."
The Irish People Party has "core principles" that every independent must align with, however, it "doesn't bind its members to a strict party line".
The core principle for housing is, "house the Irish first, not the world"; the family principle includes elements of conservatism, stating, "family creation and support", and, most radically, the migration principle is defined as "sensible immigration, not open borders".
Taking a stance as such in relation to immigration, housing and family policies, The Irish People Party has been considered as one of the new political parties to emerge from the far-right wing.
Additionally, "Free Speech" is another where the independent, but affiliated, candidates agree that "talking and thinking should never be a crime", with some party candidates being linked with protests against immigration and LGBTQ+.
