Kilkenny woman (75) dies in N25 crash

Mary Grennan passed away on Friday, January 3.
A Kilkenny woman has died tragically after a devastating car crash last weekend.
Mary Grennan (née Kirwan) (75) was killed after the vehicle she was driving was involved in a collision with another vehicle on the N25 at Luffany.
The collision occurred at around 5.50pm on Friday evening, January 3, close to the Rhu Glenn Hotel near Slieverue.
Mary died at the scene of the collision and her remains were brought to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) for a post-mortem examination.

Mary lived at Ballycurran, Tullogher and originally hailed from Gaulstown, Glenmore. Her sudden passing has caused shock across her family, friends and community.
She is deeply missed by her husband Paddy, children John, Bridget, James, Declan and Patrick, her sisters Breda, Kathleen, Eileen, Josie and Emily, brothers James, Michael and John, uncle Stephen O'Connor, son-in-law Brendan, daughters-in-law Breda, Mary, Irene and Aisling, her 12 grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.
Local councillor Fidelis Doherty shared a message of sympathy, stating: "It is with great sadness that we hear the news of a lovely lady who passed away following an accident on the N25 yesterday evening.
"Sympathy to her family, her husband and children, her many family members, and the community in Tullogher, and may she rest in peace."
Cllr Doherty ended: "It is a great sadness for all of us, and for the family in particular."
Tullogher Camogie Club released a statement in tribute to Mary and her family: "Mary's daughter Bridget has been an integral part of our club, both as a player and more recently as a trainer, her son Declan has been involved in coaching our juveniles and Mary's grandchildren are active members of the club.
"We are thinking of Bridget, Declan and the entire Grennan and Kirwan families at this terribly sad time."
On Tuesday, January 7, Mary will be reposing at Doyle's Funeral Home, The Old Rectory, Rosbercon, New Ross, from 3pm, ending with prayers at 7pm.
Her funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 8, at 12 noon at St. David's Church, Listerlin, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
