There was a small increase in the number of adults in local authority emergency accommodation in August.

The monthly homelessness report for August from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage showed 119 adults in emergency accommodation.

That is an increase of two people on July’s report and four on June.

SOUTH EAST 

Waterford is part of the South East region, where 334 adults were in emergency accommodation.

Waterford had the highest number of homeless adults, followed by Tipperary (81) and Wexford (52).

Carlow had the lowest with 39 adults in emergency accommodation, followed by Kilkenny with 44.

Family information is only published on a regional basis.

In the South East, 67 families were in emergency accommodation and 119 children.
