The Director of Roads at Waterford City and County Council has welcomed an additional allocation of roads infrastructure funding, but said it is not nearly what they need.
At the September sitting of Dungarvan-Lismore District Council, Councillor Tom Cronin said he wished to acknowledge the funding announced a week previous.
Director Gabriel Hynes replied: “Yeah we received a €350,000 in RI funding. I was looking for €8 million but yeah it's welcome.”
In March, Mr Hynes expressed concerns that if that money was not allocated, the council would struggle to maintain the roads.
Cllr Cronin also complimented the roads department on the work they have carried out over the summer.
